Geotechnical Engineer - Underground $138K - $105K. Operation Expansion?
- Core responsibility is to take accountability of day to day monitoring and design modifications of underground operations.
- As the team consists of three people.
- A technician whom you will direct in this.
- Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, who will maintain overall site design management, QA/QC and liaise with consulting engineers.
- Still in initial start up phases, this Greenfield's project offers the opportunity to be part of the founding team - and solidifies your position in this as the company expands.
- Surely you will be next in line for senior and superintendent roles if you get to know the site from initial stages up.
- When it comes to expanding the geotechnical divisions in line with operations ramp ups.
- Site particulars include copper/gold commodity, international prominence and recognition, significant LOM, 9/5 roster with the view to change to 8/6 in the latter half of the year.
To apply for this role you must bring with you at least 5 years geotechnical experience, and it is expected that a great portion of this will be in underground mining and rock mechanics so you can handle the day to day autonomously and with confidence. In house experience will take preference, however if you have significant u/g experience in consulting, still enquire.

Senior Underground. $154K - $138K
About to complete or planning on starting your Masters in Geomechanics from the WA School of Mines?
The addition of this qualification to your skill set will define the point where you move from Geotechnical Engineer to a Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
This transition into a Senior Geotechnical role will be marked by a switch in primary focus, to design and risk mitigation strategies - rather that on the ground implementation and compliance.
This company has one of the larger geotechnical divisions and structures in WA (12+). Comprised solely of geotechnical staff, they have a site based team and a Perth based team. The site based guys take care of the implementation and small scale design review, changes and daily monitoring. Leaving those of you in the corporate based team to focus on higher level design, slope optimization projects, contribute to corporate risk management profiles and training and delivery of this to other staff members to name a few. In the past, members of this team have also been involved in aggressive expansion plans adding yet another dimension.
A strong practical, site experience in under ground mining is necessary, but you will also need some exposure to geotechnical design. At least 8 years total experience, plus the requirement of a Masters must be underway or completed.

SENIOR. U/G. $189K - $165K.
$189K - $165K (+bonus) FIFO 8/6
The operations that you will span across, see a mixture of commodities in the one site. One core pit and multiple satellite pits, including zinc, copper, gold and silver. Someone who gets bored easily with the same old iron ore talk will benefit from a bit of variety.
Team development is the reason they are bringing you on. An experienced senior needs to set a solid foundation, for the predicted team expansion of at least 3 in the next 12 months. As the existing mine will continue production, and the re-opening of a second open pit mine. When the team grows to accommodate this, you move into the team leader role full time.
The Technical Services Manager has explained that they want someone on board now, so they can be involved in the strategy - both technically for the mine development strategies, but in establishing a team. Your opinion will be actively sought, and the doors of the corporate team open to hear your input. Integration into the whole engineering team.
Previous underground experience, or cross over with high level open pit experience. 12 years minimum geotechnical experience, mine sites operations are second nature to you. Masters qualifications essential as well.
